Dacia Duster Statement

Dear Dacia Duster Owner,

In a previous message on Dacia.co.uk we said that we were aware of a limited number of Dacia Dusters that can have potential paintwork issues.  This issue is exclusive to right hand drive Dusters and was unique to the initial production phase for the UK.

On a limited number of initial production phase Dusters delivered between January 2013 and August 2014,  it has been found that an inconsistency in the process of painting the bodywork may cause some surface corrosion to appear on certain panel edges  – for example,  inside a door frame or on the inside of the bonnet.  This issue in no way affects the daily operation of the vehicle.

Clearly, we are not satisfied that any of our customers might have such an issue so, since we first issued a statement on 16 June, we have been extensively investigating the matter with our Engineering and Quality teams.  They have developed a robust repair for any Duster that may need it and we’ve already started to implement this process with customer cars.  The production process has now been modified and from today new customer orders are not affected.

We have already started phoning customers who have been in touch with us to report a potential issue on their car and we will also be making contact with all potentially affected Duster owners over the coming few months.  This is to arrange for their car to be inspected and any necessary rectification work to take place. This will all be done under warranty and at specific Dacia-approved bodyshops across the UK. 

As you would expect, we will do our utmost to minimise any inconvenience to you.  When we contact you to organise an inspection of your car we will arrange to deliver a free courtesy car to you (a Duster – so you have the same car to drive around in whilst we have your car) at a time and place that is convenient to you.  We will then take your car to one of our specialised Dacia-approved bodyshops and bring it back to you once the inspection, and any potential rectification work, is completed.

We’re confident that you will be satisfied with any repair we may have to do to your car.  In order to offer you peace of mind, if your vehicle does have any rectification work done to it, we will automatically extend both your Paintwork Warranty and your Anti-corrosion Warranty by a further year.
