Its trophy cabinet already bursting at the seams, it’s probably time smart buy brand Dacia invested in a new one, after it hauled in its latest industry accolade yesterday at the Caravan Club Awards 2014.
Maybe the UK team could take a little trip to an equally affordably-priced, high quality retailer, IKEA, in the stonkingly capacious Logan MCV estate. Or, better still, make a weekend of it, with a Duster 4x4 and a caravan. Top Gear-style, with a touch of off-roading maybe.
Anyway, only a few months after landing the Best Budget 4x4 gong at the Towcar Awards, yesterday the mid-range Dacia Duster Ambiance 4x4 triumphed at the Caravan Club 2014 Awards. Taking the prestigious Judges’ Special Award home to its UK base in Hertfordshire, the “shockingly affordable” off-roading SUV didn’t just wow the judges, in true “You do the maths” style, it “shamed many more expensive towcars”.
At just £13,695, it was easily the most affordably priced car entered in the entire competition. Yet it still showed plenty of pricier competition the way when it came to high-speed stability and hill stop and starting. Among other talents it showed off in the dynamic ability and ergonomic quality tests undertaken at the Millbrook testing ground.
Summing up their relatively straightforward Duster decision, Caravan Club driving judge, Clive White, commented simply,
“The judges pretty much unanimously gave the not-so-dusty Duster their Special Award, for offering so much, for so little.“
Phil York, Marketing Director, Renault Group UK, said,
“We’re over the moon with Duster’s latest trophy win. Dacia’s unpretentious style, value and quality has won over thousands of British motorists since it landed on our shores only a few months ago. I’m sure that its appeal, now recognised officially by the Caravan Club, to the UK’s one million-strong caravanning and motorhome community will take us to even headier heights.”
Romanian smart buy brand Dacia, a subsidiary of the French carmaker Renault, has made an enemy of the unnecessary and makes a simple range of cleverly designed, high quality vehicles which unashamedly favouring function over frivolity. Its jaw-dropping prices are clear and straightforward, whether its cars are bought online at the Dacia Store or through its UK-wide retailer network.
Dacia only launched officially in the UK in January 2013, but has already racked up an impressive awards list. Among them have been a hat-trick of trophies at the carbuyer.co.uk 2013 awards, including Car of Year and 4x4 of the Year, plus Scottish Car of the Year for Duster, and Best Supermini under £12,000 for Sandero with What Car?.
