How does a hybrid vehicle work?
A Dacia hybrid vehicle combines two engines: a petrol engine and an electric motor to optimise fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and recharge its battery while driving.
These motors can operate simultaneously or alternately, with no need for the driver to do anything. On start-up, the vehicle always runs in 100% electric mode.* Depending on driving conditions, the system automatically switches between three modes:
- electric-only mode; most often used in city driving or short local trips at low speeds
- engine-only mode; ususally occurs when driving on the motorway or going uphill when more power is needed
- combined/hybrid mode; optimum combination of the two powertrains that continously adjusts power distribution according to driving conditions
*Actual charging time may vary depending on a number of factors, including outdoor temperature and battery temperature.
